Kristin Simonson is the Director of Audit Services at Deleon Trade LLC, where she specializes in helping clients navigate the complexities of U.S. Customs & Border Protection (CBP) audits and manage import risk exposure. With a robust background in CBP audits and regulations, Kristin brings invaluable expertise to assist clients in designing and implementing comprehensive import compliance programs that are tailored to pass a CBP audit.

Kristin’s expertise includes designing and executing statistical sampling methodologies to quantify areas of non-compliance. Her work covers a broad range of audit-related areas, from reconciliation filings and prior disclosures to complex reviews related to free trade agreements and the proper valuation of imported goods. Additionally, she provides clients with strategic guidance on responding to CBP inquiries and audits and conducts training sessions on CBP regulations and internal control best practices.

Before joining Deleon Trade, Kristin had an 11-year career with CBP’s Regulatory Audit Division in Minneapolis. As Senior Auditor and later Assistant Field Director, she supervised a team of auditors handling a variety of audits, including Focused Assessments, Quick Response Audits, and Airline User Fee Audits. She was responsible for audits involving a wide range of trade areas, such as customs valuation, classification, anti-dumping duties, special duty provisions, and free trade agreements.

Kristin has completed numerous advanced training courses with CBP, including those in Advanced Value, Evaluating Internal Controls, Statistical Sampling, Free Trade Agreements, Focused Assessments, and Quick Response Auditing. Her extensive background allows her to offer unmatched insight and strategic solutions to complex compliance challenges in international trade.
